Scientific Activity
On Monday, October 6, 2025, at the conference hall of the University of Duhok, Assistant Professor Dr. Sadiq Hama Gharib, a faculty member in the Department of Media at the College of Arts, participated as the keynote speaker in the Third Khan Festival, held under the theme “Kurdistan and Contemporary Media.”
His presentation, titled “The Impact of Social Media on the World,” offered a detailed analysis of its political, economic, and social effects, supported by numerous real-life examples. He also highlighted the transformations within the Kurdistan Region, noting a significant presence of politically and intellectually engaged individuals.
Over the course of the two-day festival, four panels were presented, covering twelve important topics. At the conclusion of the event, a number of recommendations and proposals were submitted to relevant stakeholders, and appreciation was extended to the speakers and panelists.
Dr. Mahdi Shaaban Mohammed, a faculty member in the Department of Media at the College of Arts, participated in the panel titled “Media and the Environmental Question” as part of the Symposium of Nawroz University in Duhok.
The symposium was held under the theme “The Role of Media in Promoting Environmental Awareness and Enlightenment”, and was organized in coordination with the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate – Duhok Branch.
