Shwan Othman Hussein Assistant professor
My name is Shwan, and I am a lecturer in the Department of Geography at Salahaddin University-Erbil. I was born in the city of Erbil, in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and have always been deeply interested in understanding the dynamics of urban environments. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Geography from Salahaddin University-Erbil, my Master's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Mosul, and my PhD in Geoinformatics from the University of Szeged in Hungary. My primary area of research focuses on urban green vegetation and its environmental impact. I am particularly interested in how green infrastructure contributes to urban sustainability, environmental quality, and overall livability. I use remote sensing and GIS-based methods to analyze spatial patterns and support data-driven urban planning.
