Workshop Announcement

On Monday, February 16, 2026, at Hawler Medical University, a workshop entitled “Psychological and Social Care for Cancer Patients” was conducted by Lecturer Veras from the Department of Sociology, for faculty members and students.

The workshop emphasized the importance of understanding the psychological, human, and social dimensions of cancer. It highlighted that care for cancer patients should not be limited to medical treatment alone, but must also include psychological support, active listening, protection of dignity and identity, and recognition of the role of family and community in the adjustment process.

The discussion stressed the value of creating a supportive and compassionate environment, maintaining emotional stability, and enhancing the patient’s experience and resilience. Such care can also help families and communities improve their ability to cope and provide meaningful support.

This workshop aimed to raise awareness among participants about the importance of comprehensive care, respecting patients’ decisions, and acknowledging the human relationships involved in facing cancer.
